Another part of our business is the manufacture of custom products for other companies.  We have produced products such as plastic fenders for large trailers, garden ponds, ice house floors, pet kennel floors, plastic barn vents, and many more.
The production process used at Matrix is thermoforming, also known as vacuum forming.  This process utilizes sheet plastic purchased from an outside vendor.  The plastic is heated to the correct temperature and then formed over a mold.  Tiny holes are drilled into the mold and vacuum is pulled through these holes drawing the plastic down tightly around the mold.  Following a set cooling period, the plastic part is then lifted off the mold.
There are also many secondary functions performed in our plant prior to the completion of some of the products.  We perform metal bending, plastic welding, line bending, welding, gluing, drilling, deburring edges, and some assembly.
